Yesterday (friday), I went for the 'usual' Friday night 'social'. It was a time with God, in the chapel down in Portland Building. I saw a lot of new people but majority aren't old. Most probably due to the preparations for the Malaysian Night which is on stage tonight.

The bible study was on the principles of bible interpretation, which was quite challenging as different people has different views. These different views occur majorly (through my years long observation) because each one grew up in a different environment/background and are affected by different factors.

Anyway, key principles of bible interpretation:

1. The context is paramount
2. Interpret scripture by scripture
3. Look for Jesus
4. Look for the primary, implied and extended meaning of the text
5. There are no contradictions
6. Dont let your systematic theology allow you to ignore the plain meaning of the text.
7. Dont lt a single verse be the basis for a theology or belief.
8. Bible interpretation should lead to lifestyle alteration.
