To live as a Christian in today's world, we need to be rid of the bad/old habits which still haunt/surround our daily lives. According to Colossians 3:1-17, sin are categorised into 3 groups which are sexual, anger and prejudice.
The first group is sexual sins. There are definitions of sexual sins which are similar in meaning but in a different context. Three of them are as given. In Greek, 'porneia' means immorality. The society in today's world are used to the 'Love, Sex, Marriage' rule whereas in the Bible, it strictly teaches us that 'Love, Marriage, Sex' is the right way to live our lives as Christians in the world today. Impurity comes from the combination of thought and language. And thirdly is lust which also means evil desires. The damage this type of sin can cause will destroy a marriage, relationship.
The second group is anger. Anger is a very dangerous sin, it can destroy a moment which takes a lifetime to build. Frustration which is also causes anger can lead to rage. Slander also known as defamation is one of the many causes of anger. Gossiping or filthy language can lead to anger too.
Fortunately anger can be handled, first of all we must learn the warning signs of anger, second: get some distance away from the object/source of the anger, thirdly resolve the issues. Everyone has anger issues even I do. There is this one guy which I dislike cos he likes to slander me everytime we meet. But I have forgotten that entire issue now. Anger can poison an entire community, destroying relationships in its path like a tornado. Anger can too destroy a mission or a church.
The final category is prejudice. Prejudice is defined as judging someone before learning more about them. In today's society, there are a few groups of people who judge people by their race, social, class, ethnic, gender and religion. Like for example: racism. The definition of racism which is taken from wikipedia. Racism is the belief that people of different races differ in value, that these differences can be measured on a ranked, hierarchical scale, and that result in the social, political, and economic advantage of one group in relation to others.
Solution: Take time to bring out to God, what feelings do you want God to eliminate from your heart. God can only help out with these issues. You have to let go of your past, those filled with anger, prejudice, sexual sins.
