Back from Exeter

Last Friday afternoon, I left for Exeter for the BUSA Indoor Archery Championships. I didn't expect the journey there to be so long! It took like 3.5-4 hours drive down. As you can see from my map on the left.

I thought that Exeter was somewhere in the middle, but in turns out that it was right next to the English Channel.

Distance from Nottingham to Exeter: 219 miles
1 mile - 1.609 km

Thus the distance in km would be: 352.45 km
That is nearly the length of the entire Brunei land boundary!

So after the entire trip down to Exeter, we still stayed in Tiverton, about 20-30 mins drive from Exeter. We stayed at a Travel Lodge (Park and Lodge). We left about 3pm and arrived around 7pm. Then we went down to a pub, to eat dinner. Dinner was good at a reasonable price.

I did not have a very good sleep the first night, cos one of the roommates was snoring quite loud. But at some point, I released some 'fatal gas' (farted) and he stopped snoring for quite a bit. R however was laughing. C (the guy who was snoring) kept on snoring. Finally fatigue took over and I fell asleep amidst the noise.

In the morning however, I discovered I was the loudest snorer. C snored for the first part of the night, and the second part, I snored. R was sufferring. Haha, what a laugh. R did record when I snored on his phone.

So we had a full English breakfast for a 5 pounder at a 'Mad Hatter' cafe down in Tiverton. Was good too. So after that we rushed down to the Uni of Exeter for our session. We did quite good actually except for me. I was scoring a constant 46-49 points over 60 for each end. ( 1 end = 6 arrows, where the max points for 1 arrow is 10). But somewhere around the start of 5th end, my points dropped and I realised in the 7th end that I was experiencing equipment failure. My sight was moving. So only in the middle of the 8th end, my scores jumped back to 46-49 points. In the end, I only acquired a result of 357 points...which was bad for me. If only the equipment didnt fail, I would have acquired a near 500 points. However, I do need to practice. I need to start shooting seriously again.

After that, as we were walking back to the cars, I saw a bus belonging to the University of Surrey which some weird thing on it. Only did I notice, that the entire minibus was covered with clingfilm.

In the end, Nottingham didnt win as usual. Always the lack of enthuasim from the members. Those who end up going are basically half the committee, one or two experienced and four serious or extremely crazy novices.

We left Tiverton at 11am on Sunday and arrived around 3pm.
